beaver dash 2009

Sunday, October 11, 2009
The MIT Habitat for Humanity club is excited to kick off its first annual MIT Beaver Dash! The Beaver Dash is a 5K race/walk open to all MIT affiliates (undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni) and the families of MIT affiliates. The event will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2009. The route is centered on campus, with parts extending down Dorm Row, Vassar Street, and Memorial Drive. A professional timing company will time the participants. The results will be posted on coolrunning.com, and top finishers will receive prizes.
Runners in the timed race will begin at 9:00am, with walkers and non-competitive participants starting at 9:30am. Finish line festivities - free food, refreshments, and prizes for the participants - will take place in the barbecue pits next to Kresge.
Proceeds from the Beaver Dash will be used to sponsor an MIT Habitat home in Kenya. Undergrad/grad student registration is $15, and faculty/staff/alumni registration is $25.
We are also looking for volunteers for the day of the race, to help with the registration table, water stations along the route, and food stands at the finish line. To register as a volunteer, send an email to mit-habitat-exec@mit.edu.
All participants and volunteers who register online by September 25 are guaranteed a free Beaver Dash t-shirt!
To register online as a participant (both runners and walkers), please go to the secure SAO ticketing website. Payment for online registration is by credit card only. TechCash and cash payment will be available at the Beaver Dash booth in Lobby 10: Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 9, from 9:00am-5:00pm, as well as on the day of the race, starting at 7:30am outside of the main entrance to the Z center, under the overhang.
Email mit-habitat-exec@mit.edu if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions!
